The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international organization with a mission to accompany, serve and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons. Founded in November 1980 as a work of the Society of Jesus, JRS is today found in 57 countries, providing assistance to refugees in camps and cities, individuals displaced within their own countries, and other forcibly displaced people. Our main areas of work are in the field of education, emergency assistance, healthcare and social services.
Jesuit Refugee Service Bosnia and Herzegovina (JRS BiH), a local non-profit humanitarian association, is seeking to recruit a Chef on a 6 month probationary (with the possibility of indefinite) term contract to assess the needs of refugees and migrants, and to develop actions, practices, and services for the unaccompanied minors staying in the JRS safe house in Sarajevo.

Job description
| Position Summary | The main responsibility is the support beneficiaries of Safe House established for the most vulnerable categories of refugees and asylum seekers. The job of a cook includes various activities: ordering and picking up foodstuffs, cleaning, determining food preparation technology, preparing foodstuffs and their heat treatment, and dividing food into individual meals. The chef prepares or cold and hot dishes and cakes, according to the daily menu. At the same time, he respects recipes and quantity standards for the use of certain foods in meals. During the performance of work, the chef respects high hygiene standards, takes care of the hygiene and cleanliness of the space and equipment with which he works, and takes care of the storage of unconsumed food. In addition, the cook records data for the daily calculation of the food used, and food rations issued, and controls the stocks. The chefs also takes care of the maintenance of the machines and devices in the kitchen, so that they are correct and technically stable. |
| Key Responsibilities | Cooks food for beneficiaries. Adopts and applies knowledge about quantitative norms, programming and planning of nutrition, as well as hygiene and technical regulations. Must know different specific menus, eg dietary, vegetarian and macrobiotic and different national and traditional cuisines. Participate in formation programs useful for his/her responsibilities. Other tasks in agreement with the manager of the Safe house. |
